In Jharkhand, campaigning has intensified between the NDA and I.N.D.I.A bloc ahead of the assembly elections in the state. Speaking at a rally in Hazaribagh Senior BJP leader Smriti Irani said leaders of the JMM and Congress are making derogatory remarks against women. Ms Irani said people are watching the activities of these political parties, and they will give a befitting reply to them in the assembly elections.
On the other hand, addressing an election rally in Saraikela, refuting the charges, senior JMM leader and Chief Minister Hemant Soren said a number of initiatives have been taken to empower women.
Leaders of RJD, AJSU, and CPI-ML also addressed gatherings in different parts of the state. CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat also addressed an election meeting. Elections to the 81-member Assembly will be held in two phases, on the 13th and 20th of this month, while counting will take place on the 23rd of November.
