A US charter aircraft carrying eight people crashed at a remote radar site in western Alaska, killing everyone on board. According to the US military, the crash occurred at the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport, about 725 kilometres west of Anchorage, Alaska, last night.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna 441 that had taken off from Anchorage was headed towards Cape Newenham when it crashed. The aircraft was reportedly carrying personnel travelling to the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site. US Air Force Lt. Gen. Robert Davis, commander of Alaskan Command, described the incident as a devastating loss for the military and local communities.
