Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi has called for stronger cooperation among BRICS nations to build resilient, innovative and sustainable education systems. Addressing the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in Bhubaneswar today, he said education systems must be equipped to respond effectively to global challenges such as pandemics, economic uncertainties, climate change and rapid technological advancements.
Welcoming delegates from BRICS member countries, Mr Joshi said India’s BRICS Chairship is guided by the theme, “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.” He said resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability are essential for preparing future generations to meet emerging global challenges.
The Union Minister noted that the expanded BRICS grouping represents more than four billion people and a significant share of the world’s youth population. The diversity of BRICS nations is one of its greatest strengths and offers immense opportunities to exchange knowledge, best practices and innovative approaches in education.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to a people-centric approach under its BRICS Chairship, Mr Joshi said the country is working to advance the BRICS agenda with the spirit of “Humanity First,” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. He said India remains committed to promoting inclusive development while addressing the aspirations of the Global South.
The Minister also called upon BRICS nations to deepen educational cooperation through partnership, mutual respect, sovereign equality and consensus. The meeting was attended by Education Ministers, heads of delegation and senior officials from BRICS member countries.
