The Election Commission has extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR, of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya. In Andhra Pradesh, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue until 10th of October, while the final electoral rolls will be published on 16th October.
In Meghalaya, the final electoral rolls will be published on 26th of October.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Election Commission in New Delhi this evening. The meeting was attended by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
