The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced biennial elections for five seats in the 78-member Maharashtra Legislative Council. Polling will be held on 23rd October, while counting of votes will take place on 27th October.

The election process will be completed by 31st October. The seats are falling vacant due to the retirement of sitting members on 6th December this year.
The constituencies going to polls include three Graduates’ constituencies of Aurangabad, Pune and Nagpur divisions, and two Teachers’ constituencies of Amravati and Pune divisions.

The notification for the elections will be issued on 29th September. The last date for filing nominations is 6th October, while scrutiny will be held on 7th October. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till 9th October.
