Earth Sciences Ministry and IMD celebrate International Yoga Day in New Delhi

The Ministry of Earth Sciences and the India Meteorological Department today observed the 12th International Day of Yoga in New Delhi, centred on the theme Yoga for Healthy Ageing. The Ministry said that the celebration reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a healthier, more focused and productive workplace through the practice of yoga.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Srinivas Rao Gangi Reddy, highlighted the role of yoga in promoting mindfulness, clarity of thought and emotional well-being. He said yoga helps individuals navigate a world filled with distractions and realise their true potential. He also spoke about the four traditional paths of yoga, including Bhakti, Jnana, Karma and Raja Yoga and encouraged participants to adopt a balanced and disciplined approach to life.
 
Director General of Meteorology, Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, emphasised the importance of making yoga a part of daily life. He said regular yoga practice helps people remain healthy and happy. Dr. Mohapatra added that a healthy society contributes to a healthy nation and a better world.
 
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials and staff of the Ministry and the IMD, reflecting their commitment to integrating yoga into daily life for overall well-being.
