External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar unveiled a bust of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Consulate General of India in Atlanta on the occasion of the freedom fighter’s birth anniversary. He also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, who gathered in large numbers to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

 

In a social media post, Jaishankar described the bust as an enduring source of inspiration, recalling Sardar Patel’s vision, leadership and invaluable contribution to India’s unity and integrity. He also expressed pride in the achievements and contributions of the Indian diaspora. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed every year on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and India’s first Home Minister Sardar Patel and celebrates his enduring contribution to the political integration and unity of the country.
