External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, has strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed their commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism. The three ministers met under the IBSA Dialogue Forum at New York on the sidelines of UNGA on yesterday and stressed their commitment to the UN Charter, international law and a stronger multilateral system.

 

In a joint statement, the ministers called for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to make it more democratic, representative and reflective of contemporary realities. 

 

The IBSA ministers expressed concern over the impact of global conflicts on the Global South, particularly through energy and food insecurity, inflation and fiscal pressures. They also emphasised urgent action on climate change, expansion of renewable energy and sustainable fuels, greater digital connectivity and infrastructure, and harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence for economic growth and sustainable development.
