External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today met a group of 21 pilgrims belonging to Tamil Nadu in New Delhi who were rescued from Nepal. The pilgrims had arrived in Kathmandu from the flood-affected area yesterday and reached New Delhi this afternoon.
In a social media post, Dr Jaishankar thanked the government of Nepal and its Army for the rescue efforts. He also appreciated the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu for facilitating their smooth return to India.
Later, talking to media, Dr Jaishankar said that the Government of India is working to support Nepal in the relief and rescue of people following the flash flood. The Minister said that he spoke to the Nepalese Foreign Minister this morning and offered a range of support.
