Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the market of electric vehicles is growing in the country. Addressing the EV ecosystem awards in New Delhi today, Mr Gadkari stated that strengthening the EV ecosystem will enhance the economic viability. He said that promoting electric mobility would reduce the country’s dependence on imported petroleum, help curb pollution and strengthen India’s self reliance in the electric vehicle sector.
Mr Gadkari further highlighted the potential of bio-ethanol based vehicles, saying that the use of alternative fuels can significantly reduce dependence on conventional petroleum and provide economic benefits to the consumers. The Minister also announced that he will launch a Toyota Innova four-wheeler, on 26th of this month, which will run entirely on 100 per cent bioethanol instead of petrol.
