Electing to bowl, East Zone’s pace attack exploited the favourable conditions from the outset to keep Central Zone under pressure throughout the day. Tripura medium-pacer Abhijit Sarkar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 38. For central zone Rinku Singh scored 60 off 88 balls and Aryan Juyal’s 46 off 113 balls. East Zone set to begin their first innings on day two, where the pitch is expected to assist seam bowlers further.
In another semifainal clash, opting to bat first, South Zone bowl out North Zone for a modest 195 on day one at Chennai today. Opening batter Qamran Iqbal provided the sole resistance for North Zone by compiling a gritty 76 off 182 balls. In reply, South Zone reached 40 for 2 at stumps, trailing North Zone by 155 runs. For south Zone, pacer Vidhwath Kaverappa picked a disciplined four-wicket haul to bowl out North Zone at a modest score.
