DRI seizes 3.2 kg foreign-origin gold worth Rs 5 crore at Mumbai International Airport

In Maharashtra, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has dismantled a gold smuggling syndicate under Operation Golden Nexus at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The agency seized 3.2 kilograms of foreign-origin gold worth around five crore rupees and arrested seven people, including three transit passengers from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, three airport staff members, and one receiver.

According to officials, the carriers allegedly smuggled the gold by concealing it inside their bodies, while airport staff facilitated its removal from the airport for further delivery.
