Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, today met Commonwealth Games gold medallist Mirabai Chanu in New Delhi and congratulated her on winning a record-extending third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow. During the meeting, Mr Scindia lauded Mirabai Chanu’s determination and perseverance, and noted that her achievement will inspire young athletes across the country, particularly in the Northeast. They also discussed various aspects of high-performance sports, including training, nutrition, recovery and athlete support.
The Minister highlighted the Centre’s efforts to strengthen the sporting ecosystem in the Northeast through the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s High-Level Task Force and the One State, One Sport initiative. He said that the primary focus of the Government is to create world-class coaching, scientific training and sports infrastructure, nurturing more champions from the region.
