Benchmark domestic equity indices ended in the positive zone today. The Sensex surged 287 points or 0.37 per cent to close at 77,656. The Nifty advanced 115 points or 0.48 per cent to settle at 24,334. In the broader market at the National Stock Exchange, the Midcap 100 index gained half a per cent, while the Smallcap 100 index dipped 0.1 per cent.
