Delhi police detain several CJP protesters in violation of prohibitory orders

The Delhi Police has detained several CJP protesters who arrived to participate in a proposed protest in Central Delhi in violation of prohibitory orders.

Earlier, the Delhi Police clarified that it had not received any request for permission to hold the protest. Speaking to the media, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan said the police had not received any request concerning a specific list of individuals. He said the Flag Code of India had been officially notified and mandated that the national flag be treated with the utmost respect.

Mr Ranjan added that the Delhi Police had already shared a social media post outlining the precautions citizens should follow while hoisting the national flag. He further said that certain social media accounts are selectively sharing photographs and videos of police personnel performing their duties, along with their personal information. The Additional Commissioner of Police described the practice as inappropriate and illegal.
