Delhi Police arrests 916 people in online fraud and cybercrime cases under Operation CyHawk 5.0

Delhi Police has informed that under Operation CyHawk 5.0, nine hundred sixteen people have been arrested in connection with various online frauds and cybercrimes.

 

Addressing the media, Joint Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations, Rajneesh Gupta said that the two-day nationwide operation began on the 16th of this month, during which 715 raiding teams carried out coordinated operations across 21 states and Union Territories, including Delhi.

He informed that during the operation, 105 laptops, 757 mobile phones, a car and cash amounting to approximately 21 lakh rupees were seized. He said that two Nigerian nationals were also apprehended, and deportation proceedings have been initiated against them.

Delhi Police further stated that most of the communication and financial transactions in these cases were carried out through online platforms, particularly Telegram and WhatsApp channels. The operation targeted organised cybercriminal networks involved in financial fraud, phishing attacks, digital scams, and online deception.
