In the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a Memorandum of Understanding MoU was signed in New Delhi today between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi MCD and National Dairy Development Board NDDB for the establishment of Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants for the scientific utilisation of cattle dung in Delhi. The objective of the initiative is to prevent waste from city’s dairies from flowing into the Yamuna river. This waste will instead be converted into biogas and manure. Under the NDDB model, dung from dairies and gaushalas (cow shelters) will be transported directly to gas and manure plants, alongside the scientific management of waste along the banks of the Yamuna. Lieutenant Governor Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta and senior officials were present on the occasion. Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi Pravesh Wahi and Chairman of National Dairy Development Board Dr. Meenesh C Shah exchanged the MoU.
