Delhi LG Sandhu directs Delhi Police to maintain strict control over crime

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, today chaired a meeting with the senior officials of Delhi Police at Police headquarters in New Delhi. In a social media post, Mr Sandhu said that he directed the force to maintain strict control over crime, with special emphasis on the safety and security of women, children, and senior citizens.

Lieutenant Governor also instructed officers to focus on continuous skill enhancement, adopt best policing practices, leverage emerging technologies such as AI and drones. He also urged them to actively integrate Resident Welfare Associations and market associations into community policing and intelligence gathering. Mr Sandhu also reiterated the need for humane, visible, and proactive citizen-centric policing that strengthens public trust and confidence.

During the meeting, he also emphasised the need to address traffic challenges through stringent enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly against wrong-side driving and at major congestion points, while simultaneously promoting positive behavioural change among road users. Mr Sandhu also highlighted the importance of personnel welfare, increasing women’s representation in the force, and transforming police residential complexes into zero-waste colonies.
