Delhi: Govt destroys over 130 kg of expired food items, including Khoya, Besan, Atta

 
Delhi Government has identified and destroyed approximately 131 kilogram of expired food articles, including Khoya, Besan and Atta as part of the ongoing enforcement drive ahead of the festive season. State Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh today said that the Delhi Government is committed to ensure that citizens have access to safe, hygienic and wholesome food. He said, the Department of Food Safety has also collected 37 samples of Paneer, Khoya, Ghee, sweets and other food products. These samples have been sent to designated laboratories for detailed analysis. 
 
Mr Singh reiterated that the Delhi Government will take strict action against persons found involved in the manufacture, storage, distribution or sale of unsafe or adulterated food products. The Delhi Health Minister said that enforcement teams will continue intensive inspections and sampling across markets, manufacturing units, food establishments and other sensitive locations throughout the festive season. He also appealed to all stakeholders to cooperate with enforcement teams and contribute towards ensuring safe and wholesome food for the citizens of Delhi during the festive season.
