Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav today chaired a high-level meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to review the measures to control air pollution in the national capital. Addressing the meeting, Mr Yadav called for organising Jan Bhagidari events at the 37 identified hotspots in Delhi by 10th of October, involving relevant stakeholders.
Chief Minister Gupta said the Delhi Government has undertaken several measures to improve air quality and stressed the need to ensure that decisions taken and action points identified translate into effective implementation on the ground. She also highlighted the need to explore technological solutions to reduce emissions from cremation grounds and promote awareness about electric cremation facilities, including their availability for economically weaker sections. The Delhi Government informed that there will be a complete ban on dust generating demolition activity and outdoor civil construction activity from 1st November to 31 January.
Under the action plan, ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’ will be implemented at 500 Automatic Number Plate Recognition-enabled fuel stations through awareness and enforcement. A public campaign will promote the Delhi Metro Sarthi App and strengthen last-mile connectivity, while field visits and traffic decongestion measures will be undertaken at pollution hotspots. Road redevelopment and footpath paving will be accelerated to control dust pollution. Measures to prevent open waste burning will also be intensified through deep cleaning, improved waste management and ward-level monitoring. The government will focus on increasing plantations and greening identified brown areas. Registration on the Malba App will be made mandatory, while restrictions on construction and demolition activities will be enforced during winter. The Winter Protocol will include restrictions on polluting vehicles, higher parking charges, staggered office timings and work-from-home arrangements. The EV Policy 2026 and Parivartan Scheme will also be promoted through registration drives and Jan Bhagidari Camps. Industrial pollution control will be strengthened through additional monitoring stations, enforcement teams and an AI-enabled Command and Control Centre.
