The Delhi Government has approved the introduction of a ‘Grassroot Training Support Assistance’ component under the Mukhyamantri Khel Protsahan Yojana. Under the new initiative, eligible athletes training regularly at Delhi government sports centres and stadiums will receive financial assistance of two thousand rupees per month.
The scheme will cover athletes in the Under-14, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 categories. The assistance will help athletes meet expenses related to nutrition, local travel, basic sports equipment and medical needs. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the assistance will help young athletes continue their training without interruption and meet expenses related to nutrition, local travel, basic sporting equipment and medical needs. Delhi’s Sports Minister Ashish Sood said the initiative aims to ensure that financial difficulties do not force talented young athletes to give up their sporting ambitions.
