Delhi govt approves fin scheme to empower women economically and socially 

 
The Delhi Government today approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana (DLY), marking a significant step towards the economic empowerment and social security of women. Under the scheme, eligible women will receive financial assistance of two thousand five hundred rupees every month. The scheme’s guidelines were approved at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat. A provision of five thousand 110 crore rupees has been made for the scheme in the 2026-27 Budget. The scheme aims to strengthen women economically while empowering them socially. 
 
Talking to media in New Delhi, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said that the portal for the scheme will open on 1st of August. The Chief Minister said the scheme will cover eligible women between 21 and 60 years of age whose family income is up to 2.50 lakh rupees per annum. 
 
Ms Gupta said the scheme is not limited to providing financial assistance but will also promote education, healthcare, social responsibility and the overall development of women. She said the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is an important initiative that will promote financial security, encourage a culture of savings, and support education, healthcare, skill development and greater social participation among women. She expressed confidence that the scheme would bring positive change to the lives of more than 17 lakh women and play a significant role in making them self-reliant and empowered
