The Delhi Government today handed over the approval letters to the 4 thousand eligible women beneficiaries under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana out of which 2 thousand 500  letter given at the formal ceremony.

 

Under the scheme, eligible women will receive financial assistance of 2 thousand 500 rupees every month. Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that this initiative is a significant step towards women’s welfare, empowerment, and dignity. He also highlighted the importance of empowering women and ensuring their rightful place in the social and economic development of the nation.

 

Our correspondent reports that the monthly assistance will strengthen financial security, everyday choice and self-reliance.

 

The Delhi Government has finalised the manner in which the assistance can be disbursed. Eligible women will receive one thousand rupees every month through a digital wallet and one thousand 500 rupees will be deposited as a fixed deposit, with interest to be borne by the government. 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this initiative is a significant step towards women’s welfare, empowerment and dignity. She added that this financial assistance can help women meet important needs, including children’s care and education, household requirements or support for their livelihood and business activities. 

 

Around nine lakh thirteen thousand women registered for the scheme and over six lakh 52 thousand applications were submitted. The Delhi government said that the financial assistance will be credited directly to women beneficiary’s bank accounts from 1st of next month.

 

A financial outlay of five thousand one hundred 10 crore rupees has been made for the scheme in the 2026-27 Delhi Budget.  The response to the scheme reflects the confidence Delhi’s women have placed in this initiative and strengthens the Government’s resolve to widen opportunity and empowerment across the capital.
