Delhi CM directs identification and demolition of dangerous buildings near Satya Niketan

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, visited the site of the building collapse in the Satya Niketan area of New Delhi this morning. She took stock of the situation. Talking to the reporters, she said that around 80 per cent of the debris has been cleared from the site of the decades-old multi-storey building.
 
The Chief Minister informed that twelve people have been recovered of which six have died, while six are in stable condition. Ms. Gupta stated that the Government is in touch with the parents of the affected students. 
 
The Chief Minister said that the tragic incident resulted due to negligence of owner of the building. She assured that action will be taken against the owner. The Delhi CM added that other such dangerous buildings in the vicinity will be identified and demolished. 
 
Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is continuously engaged in the operation. Mr Singh said that the Chief Minister has directed the Commissioner and the Chief Secretary to immediately suspend all officials responsible for this matter and to take strict action.
