Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today paid tribute to the social reformer and pioneer of the Indian Renaissance, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, on his death anniversary.

In a social media post, the Minister said that Raja Ram Mohan Roy paved a new path for change during an era when society was bound by numerous regressive customs. He highlighted that his ideas regarding education, rationality, and human dignity fostered a new consciousness of awakening and reform within society.

Mr Singh noted that Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s efforts towards women’s education, social equality, and modern education gave fresh momentum to the cause of social reform.

The Minister added that his life inspires everyone to work for the public good with unwavering determination and to strive continuously for positive change in society.
