The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the M/o Jal Shakti held a review meeting to accelerate drinking water coverage in tribal areas under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA).
A dedicated provision of five thousand crore rupees under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0 has been earmarked to address drinking water gaps in these areas.
The meeting was chaired by the Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ashok K. K. Meena, in New Delhi yesterday. The Ministry said that the meeting reviewed progress towards providing functional tap water connections in all eligible tribal villages and habitations. States and Union Territories were advised to harmonise data, identify uncovered habitations and submit technically sound proposals.
