Indian boxers continued their impressive run at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with five pugilists securing places in the finals today. Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal, Jaismine Lamboria, Arundhati Chaudhary and Jadumani Singh advanced to the title bouts in their respective categories, assuring the country of at least four Silver Medals. Preeti entered the final with a unanimous 5-nil victory over Zambia’s Catherine Mwape in Women’s 54kg Semifinal. She will take on Canada’s Scarlett Delgado in the final tomorrow.
Ankush Panghal entered the Men’s 80kg final defeating Canada’s Joshua Ofori by a unanimous 5:nil decision in the semi final. Jaismine Lamboria produced a dominant performance to storm into the women’s 57kg final as she defeated Lesotho’s Rapelang Maselela via Referee Stop Contest (RSC) in the semifinal.
Arundhati reached women’s 70 kg final, after defeating Wales’ Rosie Eccles on a 4-nil split decision in the Semifinal. While, in the men’s 55 kg bout, Jadumani Singh outplayed Philip Haoseb of Namibia 5-nil in the semi-final. He will face Jye Dixon of Australia tomorrow for the gold medal. India have won 17 medals so far at the Commonwealth Games 2026, comprising three gold, nine silver and five bronze.
