The cumulative value of India's developmental projects with the Global South now exceeds 40 billion dollars. Delivering India’s National Statement at the Peacebuilding Commission Ministerial Meeting in New York on 22nd September 2023, Secretary (West), External Affairs Ministry, Sanjay Verma said that India has consistently played a constructive and substantial role in the realm of peacebuilding through development partnerships with the  Global South. 

He said India remains committed to being a steadfast ally and catalyst in all peacebuilding endeavours with this human-centric approach. Secretary (West) also stressed the need for adequate, sustainable, and flexible financing for peacebuilding. He also said that an overall review of existing peacekeeping missions must aim to weed out redundancies.
