Cricket: 15-member Indian men’s squad announced for three-match T20I  against Afghanistan

In Men’s Cricket, India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan has been announced.

Shreyas Iyer will lead the Indian side, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. Ace seamer Jasprit Bumrah returns to the squad, subject to fitness clearance, along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana. Bumrah missed India’s recent assignments after suffering a knee injury during the ODI series in England in July. He also missed the two-Test series in Sri Lanka.
The series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on the 13th, 15th and 17th of this month. Afghanistan will be the designated host for the series.

The Indian top order features a mix of experienced campaigners and young talent, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.

The middle order features the likes of skipper Shreyas Iyer, vice-captain Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. India have opted for three all-round options in Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, while Varun Chakaravarthy will lead the spin attack alongside Ravi Bishnoi.

The pace attack will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, with Harshit Rana providing an additional option with his effective cutters.
The squad largely mirrors India’s team for the upcoming Asian Games to being at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan from 19th of this month.
