A world-class geological museum, the first of its kind in the country will be developed at the famous Bhedaghat-Lamhetaghat area in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
The Central Government has approved a project worth 87 crore rupees for this. The project will be developed on around 12 hectares of land under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.
A geological museum and interpretation centre will be built under the project. It will have six galleries and more than 130 exhibits.
Other attractions will include 3D models, interactive touch tables, digital panels, an immersive theatre, Titanosaur Square, dinosaur park, fossil garden, geological maze, rock garden, tree-top walkway, glass floor, nature walks and viewing decks.
The museum will explain the origin of the Earth and the geological history of the Narmada Valley and Madhya Pradesh, going back millions of years, in a simple and interesting way.
The project will focus on protecting the natural surroundings and existing trees. The aim is to keep 90 per cent or more of the area green.
Restaurants, food courts, shops selling local products and an eco-resort will also be developed. The project is targeted for completion by February 2028, within 18 months. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will implement the project.
