Counting of votes for the elections held in 309 urban local bodies across Rajasthan is underway, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) maintaining its lead so far.

 

Out of the 10 municipal corporations in the state, the BJP is leading in six, including Jaipur, Alwar, Bhilwara and Udaipur. The Congress is ahead in Pali and Bikaner, while independent candidates are leading in Bharatpur.

 

Among the 47 municipal councils, the BJP candidates are leading in 34 councils, while the Congress is leading in 12. Similarly, in the 252 municipalities, BJP candidates have won more seats in 150, while Congress candidates have secured more seats in 89.

 

In the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, comprising 150 wards, BJP candidates have so far won 43 wards, while Congress candidates have won 32 and independents five.

 

In Kota, out of 100 wards, BJP candidates are leading in more than 60 wards, while Congress candidates are ahead in more than 30 wards.
