Controversy over alleged sacrilege video involving Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann intensifies

The controversy surrounding the alleged sacrilege video involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann continues to intensify, with leaders from several political parties demanding his resignation and an impartial investigation. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex gurdwara management body, has also called for Mr Mann to step down.

The forensic reports cited by the Chief Minister’s supporters to defend him have come under scrutiny after Gurugram Police registered an FIR on yesterday. The case includes charges of cheating and forgery. Preliminary investigations indicate that some Punjab Police personnel and state government officials may have facilitated illegal payments to fabricate forensic documents linked to the case.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said in Patiala that a report has been received and a detailed investigation is underway into the alleged fabrication of the forensic report by a Gurugram-based laboratory. Meanwhile, Mr Mann has maintained that the video is fake and part of a campaign to defame him.
