A major landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall has damaged several houses in Rimbi village of Sikkim’s Gyalshing district. The incident occurred last night, with several houses, including government accommodations, either destroyed or extensively damaged. Officials said there was no loss of life.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed concern over the situation and said the safety and well-being of affected residents remain the government’s top priority. He has directed local authorities to stay on high alert, closely monitor the situation and take all necessary measures to protect residents.

The Chief Minister has also appealed to people in the affected area to remain vigilant amid torrential rain, follow advisories issued by authorities and extend support to one another. The state government is taking necessary steps to address the situation and ensure the safety of people in Rimbi.
