Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India’s proposed trade deal with the United States will protect farmers’ interests and give India a competitive advantage.
Addressing the fourth National Conference on India’s Industrial transformation in New Delhi today, Mr Goyal said that the trade agreements will be fair, equitable and balanced. The Minister said that the proposed US trade deal will not compromise a single sensitive interest of farmers or any stakeholder. He added that India has signed nine trade agreements covering 38 developed nations with a combined GDP of 60 trillion dollars.
The Minister said that India’s free trade agreements are not limited to market access or reducing tariffs but aim to promote exports by leveraging the country’s competitive strengths while protecting sensitive sectors.
