Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to visit UK ahead of India-UK CETA implementation

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will begin a three-day official visit to London, United Kingdom, today. During the visit, he will review preparations for the rollout of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the companion Double Contribution Convention (DCC), which are set to come into force on the 15th of next month. The visit is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will hold high-level talks with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle. The discussions will focus on key aspects of implementing the trade pact, including regulatory coordination, customs facilitation and tariff liberalisation measures aimed at boosting market access for Indian exports. The two sides will also review the operational roadmap for the Double Contribution Convention, which is expected to facilitate greater mobility of professionals and businesses between India and the UK. The talks will further cover market access in the services sector and measures to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations.
