Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan has met Chief of the Royal New Zealand Navy Rear Admiral Garin Golding and discussed ways to enhance naval ties, expand operational engagement and strengthen maritime information exchange. They also discussed the first bilateral naval exercise between the two countries, planned for 2027. 

 

The visit will further strengthen India-New Zealand naval ties through discussions on maritime security, information sharing, training, interoperability, emerging technologies and professional exchanges. 

 

Earlier, during his visit to Australia, the Chief of Naval Staff met Australia’s Chief of the Defence Force Admiral Mark Hammond in Canberra. They discussed the growing strategic depth of the defence partnership, advancing the implementation of the Maritime Security Collaboration Roadmap and identifying opportunities to deepen interoperability and cooperation across the maritime domain. The interaction also reflected a shared commitment to translating strategic convergence into tangible outcomes that contribute to a secure, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific.   

 

The visit also underlines the Indian Navy’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation with the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy through practical and sustained maritime engagement, contributing to peace, security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
