Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Rs 3.89/kg. The new rate came into effect this morning. Following the revision, CNG in the national capital will now cost Rs 86.98/kg. In Gurugram, the revised price is Rs 92.1/kg, while consumers in Ghaziabad and Noida will have to pay Rs 95.59/kg.
In a statement, IGL said that despite the price revision, CNG in Delhi continues to be among the most economical fuel options for consumers. The company attributed the increase to the re-escalation of the West Asia crisis. It said that the re-escalation of tensions disrupted LNG cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in global LNG prices nearly doubling compared with pre-crisis levels. Additionally, the approaching winter season has heightened urgency in Europe to replenish and increase natural gas storage levels.
