Senior BJP leader and Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a clean and updated electoral roll is the soul of democracy. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Mr. Chouhan said that the integrity of the electoral process could be compromised if incorrect or ineligible names are included in the voters’ list. Mr. Chouhan questioned the Opposition’s allegations regarding electoral irregularities. He said there should be no objection to removing the names of those who have passed away and ensuring that only eligible citizens are included in the voter list.
