Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal emphasized the urgent need to strengthen legal aid and child protection mechanisms in cyberspace, calling child safety an integral pillar of nation-building. Speaking at the NALSA South Zone Regional Conference 2026 in Hyderabad, themed around preventing online sexual exploitation and strengthening child-friendly justice, Mr. Meghwal highlighted the rising digital threats facing youth, including online grooming, child sexual abuse material, deepfakes, and technology-facilitated exploitation.
To address these challenges, the Minister introduced three foundational dimensions of “Ease of Justice” for child protection: Ease of Understanding, Ease of Engagement, and Ease of Working. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Meghwal said, the language of justice must be that which is understood by the recipient of justice. He urged parents and educators to build a supportive environment where children feel empowered to report online threats without fear or guilt.
Mr. Meghwal stressed simplifying access through initiatives like the Child Helpline 1098, NALSA’s Legal Services Units, Tele-Law, and Nyaya Bandhu. He also emphasized the role of e-Courts Phase-3, backed by a 7,210 crore rupees allocation, in streamlining e-filing and digital evidence management for faster, child-sensitive trials under POCSO and the IT Act.
Commending the Telangana State Legal Services Authority for aiding over 50,000 beneficiaries since 2023, the Minister praised the launch of the “Nyaya Ratham” mobile Lok Adalat van. Concluding his address, Mr. Meghwal urged all stakeholders to uphold the constitutional promise of Article 39A, ensuring justice remains accessible, empathetic, and fully protective of every child’s dignity.
