Chhattisgarh is celebrating the 80th Independence Day with enthusiasm, joy and patriotic fervour. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the National Flag and took the salute at the ceremonial parade held at the Police Parade Ground in the state capital, Raipur.
Addressing the Independence Day function, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that under the courageous leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the firm resolve of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, historic success has been achieved in the fight against Naxalism. He said that Bastar, now free from Maoist violence, is celebrating the spirit of freedom through Tiranga Yatras.
Areas once affected by violence and fear are now witnessing a new dawn of peace, confidence and development. He added that the all-round development of Bastar remains one of the government’s highest priorities. Nearly 90 villages in the Bastar division, which were once affected by Maoist violence and have now become free from Naxalism, hoisted the National Flag on Independence Day for the first time since Independence.
