Keeping in view the possibility of below-normal rainfall this year due to the impact of El Niño, the Agriculture Department of Chhattisgarh has advised farmers to take up crops according to weather conditions. The department has suggested promoting the cultivation of pulses and oilseed crops instead of paddy.
It may be noted that the Chhattisgarh Government has decided to provide an incentive of 15,000 rupees per acre to farmers who cultivate pulses and oilseeds instead of paddy in low-water availability areas.
