The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has been suspended till tomorrow in view of adverse weather conditions.
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said the decision has been taken in the interest of pilgrims’ safety.
Pilgrims have been advised to keep track of weather conditions and follow the guidelines issued by the administration. Mr. Suman said the pilgrimage will resume only after the weather conditions improve.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall has been forecast at several places in Uttarakhand till tomorrow. In view of the weather warning, all District Magistrates and concerned departments have been directed to remain on a 24-hour alert and continuously monitor vulnerable areas.
Intermittent rain continues in most parts of the state, including Dehradun. The rainfall has also led to a drop in temperatures.
