The auction of Chandigarh’s heritage furniture, which was scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain, today, has been stopped with the timely intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India on the request of Chandigarh Administration. According to official sources, the MEA has informed the Chandigarh Administration that following the intervention of the Embassy of India in Spain, the concerned heritage furniture has been withdrawn from the auction. The furniture is said to be part of Chandigarh’s institutional heritage associated with the city’s iconic modernist architecture.
