The Union government today released One lakh Nine thousand Nineteen crore rupees to state governments as an additional instalment of tax devolution, over and above the regular monthly transfer scheduled for August 10. In a statement, the Finance Ministry said the additional instalment is intended to give states more room to speed up capital and development spending.

 

According to the state-wise breakup released by the ministry, Uttar Pradesh received the largest share at 19,208 crore rupees, followed by Bihar at 10,845 crore and Madhya Pradesh at 8,010 crore. West Bengal got 7,866 crore rupees and Maharashtra 7,022 crore. Smaller states and Union Territories also received their share, with Sikkim getting 365 crore rupees, Goa 398 crore and Nagaland 524 crore among the lowest allocations in the list.
