Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar today reached Thimphu on a three-day visit. During the visit, he will meet the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, in Thimphu. The Election Commission said that a key engagement of the visit will be the celebration of Bhutan’s National Voters’ Day at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, Paro, tomorrow.

On Wednesday, Mr Kumar will call on the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay. He will also hold an interaction with senior civil servants of Bhutan. The Commission said that the visit will further strengthen the close institutional cooperation between the Election Commission of India and the Election Commission of Bhutan, building on their continued engagement.
