Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar today arrived in Gujarat on a two-day official visit.

 

Addressing media personnel upon his arrival at Ahmedabad Airport, the Chief Election Commissioner expressed delight at visiting Gujarat, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.

 

Highlighting the key purpose of his visit, Mr Kumar said he will interact directly with ground-level election officials, including Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and members of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) from across the state. He emphasised that these grassroots officials and young electoral literacy members serve as the crucial primary link between the Election Commission and the citizens.

 

Today, the Chief Election Commissioner paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram. Later in the evening, Mr Kumar will visit the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) campus to interact with prominent citizens on the theme ‘Conducting Elections in India – The World’s Largest Democracy’. 

 

Tomorrow, on the second day of his visit, the Chief Election Commissioner will interact with over 500 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from across the state at the Atal Kalam Hall in Gujarat University. Following this session, he will address and encourage more than 1,000 members of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) at the AUDA Auditorium in Shela.
