CBN Jaipur seizes over 1 kg of hydroponic weed concealed in Thailand parcel

The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Jaipur, has seized more than one kilogram of hydroponic weed concealed in an international parcel from Thailand at the Foreign Post Office, Jaipur. The Finance Ministry said the contraband was concealed in 29 pouches of cakes and mixed with other articles to camouflage it. The weed was seized under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS Act), 1985. 
 
On the other hand, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bureau has seized over four kilograms of opium packed in two packets from a motorcycle on the Kanjarda-Manasa road and arrested one person based on specific intelligence. The Madhya Pradesh Unit also destroyed more than 10 thousand 842 kilograms of seized narcotic drugs at Khor, Madhya Pradesh, through the authorised disposal process under the NDPS Act, 1985. 
 
The operation was conducted under the watch of the Drug Disposal Committee and in the presence of an MP Pollution Control Board representative. The CBN further deposited over 154 kilograms of seized opium at the Government Opium and Alkaloid Works, Neemuch, as part of the disposal process. The Ministry said that the destruction or disposal of seized narcotic drugs is undertaken by CBN in accordance with the applicable provisions and prescribed procedures, ensuring that seized contraband does not re-enter the illicit drug trafficking network and is incinerated in an environmentally.
