The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today successfully secured the extradition of Red Notice subject Amritpal Singh alias Gurpal Singh from Moldova to India. The wanted fugitive was extradited by the CBI in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Punjab Police.
A team of four members of Punjab Police was sent to Moldova to bring back the fugitive. The investigation agency said that he was wanted in multiple serious criminal cases registered in Punjab. The criminal offences include double murder with the use of firearms, offences under the Arms Act and NDPS Act. The fugitive is also charged with using forged documents and violations of the Passport Act.
The CBI also underlined that in the last few years 175 wanted criminals have been brought back to India. To make such extraditions possible, CBI works as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India. The agency coordinates with all Law Enforcement Agencies in India through BHARATPOL for assistance via INTERPOL channels.
