The Central Board of Film Certification held an interactive session with members of the Bengal film fraternity in Kolkata yesterday to discuss ways to make film certification more transparent, efficient and accessible.

The session was chaired by newly appointed CBFC Chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati, along with CBFC Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Singh and Regional Officer Dr Sushrut Sharma.

Discussions focused on streamlining the e-Cinepramaan application process, recent administrative changes and modern compliance practices. The participants also discussed the introduction of accessibility features, including Audio Description and Closed Captioning, under the Cinematograph Act.

Members of the Bengal film industry shared their concerns and suggestions, with the CBFC emphasising closer institutional cooperation and smoother engagement with filmmakers.

Mr Vempati, who took charge as CBFC Chairperson in May this year, is a former Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati.
