CAQM reviews enforcement actions and compliance status across NCR

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) reviewed enforcement actions, inspection findings and compliance status across the National Capital Region (NCR) at the meeting of its Enforcement Task Force. During the period from 25th September to 10th October, a total of 124 inspections were reported, comprising six inspections at Construction and Demolition (C and D) sites, 54 in the industrial sector and 64 related to Diesel Generator (DG) sets. Based on the reported violations, various enforcement actions were proposed, which include closure of two C and D projects, three industrial units and sealing of 12 units across the industrial and DG sectors.

The Commission reiterated that inspections should preferably focus on the Red and Orange category industries, particularly those having furnaces and boilers. The Commission emphasised expeditious enforcement action, strict compliance monitoring and continued inspections across priority sectors, including industrial units, C and D activities and DG sets, to ensure effective mitigation of air pollution across the NCR.
